QUALIFICATIONS:
Hearing Impaired, Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (or similar). Experience and training in the itinerant service model is preferred. Must demonstrate knowledge of and be proficient in one or more sign systems: American Sign Language, Signed English, CASE, PSE, and Cued Speech. Must demonstrate knowledge of LSL and auditory/Oral models.
JOB GOAL:
Qualified applicant will provide sign language interpretation for signing Deaf or Hard of Hearing students mainstreamed into regular education classes; will facilitate communication between Hard of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and their teachers, their hearing peers and other personnel within the School District; and will use American Sign Language, transliteration or sign support to relay information both to and from the Deaf/Hard of Hearing student in order to assist in the instructional and socialized processes.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
This is a full-time, 180-day, hourly assignment with insurance and retirement benefits. Pay rate will be determined by education, certification, comparable experience, and placement on Grade 5, 7, or 10 of the Hourly Classified Salary Schedule.
