ESL Teacher (K-12)
This position is eligible for a $3,000 hard-to-fill signing bonus.
JOB GOAL
Provide instruction to meet the needs of ESL/LEP students.
QUALIFICATIONS
Holds a valid Tennessee teacher's license with appropriate endorsement for teaching ESL classes; has strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills; and meets health and physical requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides screening, instruction, evaluation, and assessment for non-English speaking and limited proficiency students.
- Provides instruction to each ESL/LEP student appropriate to his/her level as determined by formal assessment.
- Maintains records for each student’s individual and academic instructional program.
- Provides periodic written reports to parents of ESL/LEP students regarding their child’s progress.
- Provides referral to counseling as well as other support resources within the district where appropriate.
- Provides assessment for newly arriving non-English speaking students.
- Confers with classroom teachers regarding each student’s Individual Learning Plan and implementation.
- Participates in in-service and teacher training provided by the district.
- Meets with ESL coordinator and ESL teachers at regular intervals.
- Provides support and resource information to general education teachers.
- Assists in creating and implementing ILPs;
- Attends work regularly and on-time, and:
- Performs other duties as assigned by the ESL Coordinator and building-level Principal or his/her designee.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This job may require lifting or carrying of objects up to fifty (50) pounds, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to ten (10) pounds. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows: pushing and/or pulling, stooping and/or kneeling, reaching and/or handling, talking, hearing, seeing, and climbing.
